Kaichi Whisky Japon

Mizunara Oak tree

Mizunara oak tree

Experience a 100% Mizunara wood ageing Whisky!
Production :
Kaichi is a Japanese blended whisky that is reflecting the way whisky was produced in Japan traditionally: it is finished in casks made of Mizunara wood, a rare Japanese species of oak. It is a very expensive and complex oak tree, and only 200 to 300 years-old trees can be used for manufacturing casks and barrels. The forests of Mizunara are mostly located on the island of Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan.
This whisky is produced by Kishu-Kumano Distillery, a fifty-years old distillery located on the island of Honshu, in Wakayama, the wealthiest agricultural city of Japan and few kilometers away from Osaka. The distillery produces all its spirits in its own distillery, using water from its original pure ground-water.
Tasting :
Tasting Kaichi is a travel back to the tradition of authentic japanese whisky-making. The nose is dominated by the flavors of sandalwood brought by the finish in Mizunara casks. It is followed by elegant notes of white flowers and fresh pears in the mouth. The finish has long lasting hints of sweetness, toffee and caramel.
